Titchwell Marsh Nature Reserve of the RSPB
The Titchwell Nature Reserve of the RSPB is located in Titchwell Marsh. Numerous ducks and other wetlands-dwelling species can be seen in Titchwell Marsh, which is in North Norfolk and is just one mile from the coast. Ruffs can be observed strutting across the reedy shallows, while avocets, redshanks, and oystercatchers can be spotted feeding in the brackish lagoons. One of the busiest wading bird migration routes in the UK passes through this area.
The reserve also contains one of the largest habitats for wet grasslands in all of Britain. In addition to offering opportunities to see rare creatures like bearded tits, water voles, and otters, this habitat serves as a safe refuge for breeding skylarks and meadow pipits.

Investigate Houghton Hall & Gardens
One of Norfolk’s most magnificent stately homes, Houghton Hall is still one of England’s finest specimens of Palladian architecture. For Sir Robert Walpole, the country’s first prime minister, it was built in the 1720s. Houghton was built to showcase the riches, style, and influence of its owner. Colen Campbell and James Gibbs, two of the most significant British architects of the day, collaborated on it, and William Kent created the opulent interiors. During the eighteenth century, Walpole amassed what is now regarded as one of Britain’s best collections of European art, and his house, Houghton, later served as a museum for the collection.
Garden Walled
The Christie’s Historic Houses Association honored the 5-acre Walled Garden “Garden of the Year” in 2007.
In 1991, Lord Cholmondeley started expanding the old kitchen garden to honor his grandmother, Lady Sybil Cholmondeley. The area was divided into “ornamental gardens” by Julian and Isabel Bannerman and Paul Underwood, the head gardeners at the time. There is also a glasshouse, a rustic temple, a formal rose parterre, an Italian garden, a double-sided herbaceous border, fruit and vegetable gardens, a glasshouse, antique statues, fountains, and modern sculptures like Richard Long’s “Houghton Cross,” Jeppe Hein’s “Waterflame,” and Stephen Cox’s “Flask II.”
